1st LEAGUE vs Parkview

Gareth on first against Gary Plumstead had to use all his guile and concentration (and physchological mind-games with the ref) to win  3-2 (16-14 in the 5th)

Mwansa was a class apart and crushed his opponent 3-0

Young Kelvin then on against the veteran Craig - battled hard but Craig seems to have the edge on Kelvin whenever they play. Craig won 3-2

Frankie then played his match of the season to win 3-1 and win the match for the team

Overall result: Won 14 - 6

2nd LEAGUE vs Bryanston

First half we beat them 14-6. Last night we lost by a game. (No Stan.)

First up was Willem against Claire Nitch (again). Carbon copy of first match – Willem 2-1 up and then someone p’s Claire off and Willem doesn’t see the ball for the rest of the match.

Gary next against (an on fire) Andrew Copeland. 3-0 down in under half an hour.

Jeff played (the player formerly known as Boom-Boom) Bert Hipner. Needed to win 3-0 to counter Gary’s match, but we all know Jeff doesn’t like to win 3-0. Jeff thought of making it his usual 5-setter but managed to fend off multiple game points in the 4th to win the match.

Last up Robbie against Michael (again). Robbie beat him 3-1 in the first match. This time Michael was 2-1 up and then tweaked a glute. Retired hurt.

Willem: 2-3
Robbie: 3-2
Gary: 0-3
Jeff: 3-1
Overall result: Lost 8 - 11

5th League vs Southern Suburbs

Our last hard match of the season (theoretically)

The King was forced to go on first after just having had his “tea” and nobody else there at 7h00. The first 2 games were quickly lost and life was looking bad. But the King isn’t called the King for nothing and the gears started to click in. The 4th was close but he snuck in and the 5th was even closer but again he sneaked in. Well done the King on yet another “royal” winning gala performance.

G-Bow on next, against young Kyle, who looks about 12 but is actually 16. A good 3-2 win for G-Bow.

Grrrrrrrrich justifying his No 2 ranking thrashed his opponent 3-0.

LG then on last nervously knowing that if he lost, the 16-pointer would be thrown away. Not wanting the losing mantle and certain ridicule from his team-mates, LG decided life was good…………….and won 3-1.

That puts us 16 points clear at the top with 3 games to play. Can we snatch defeat from the jaws of victory – watch this space.

Overall result: Won 16 – 5

6th League A vs Bryanston

With a few players missing we decided to bolster the team with league and masters stalwart, Fergus McLeod. Gerhard got the show on the road with a tough 3 -1 victory over a runner and smasher of note.

Ferg up at 2 against Ian was a humdinger - a "post world masters and still on holiday" Ferg succumbing 2 - 3

Manie has been truly solid this season, stamping his authority with 3 -1 win over Eric.

The captain just needed a game (apparently) but managed a clean sweep against a league (and squash) novice, Joao.

Overall result: Won  14 - 5
