Here goes with my first match report (Johan Mare)
Well, these youngsters at Wits you know………Sometimes they are beginners and inexperienced, and sometimes they’re not. Last Wednesday they were not.
Being somewhat short of players on the night, Andile very kindly agreed to step into the breach as a strong #1.
Youngster Thomas started off well and took the first game 15-12 while Andile was warming up and finding his feet
So, Andile took the second game 16-14 (after a bit of a battle) and the third game in his stride 15-10
Oh dear, lo and behold, Thomas makes a comeback and takes the fourth 15-12
At 2 all, Andile was determined to pull the fifth back, but Thomas would have none of it. Andile played his heart out but lost 12-15
At #2, Johan Carstens took 13 points off Lamun(?) in game one, and 12 in game two
Some serious encouragement then ensued, resulting in game three arriving at 14 all!!
But alas, it was not to be, Johan going down 14-16 oh so close.
At # 3, Roger took 10 points off Ruben in games one and two
Some serious encouragement then ensued, resulting in game three once again arriving at 14 all!!
But alas, it was again not to be, Roger going down 14-16 oh so close.
At # 4 Johan Mare played youngster Alan and could only manage a measly 6 points in the first and an even worse 4 points in the second game!
Some serious encouragement then ensued, resulting in Johan going up 15-13 in game three!!
But alas, it was once again not to be, Johan going down 10-15 in the fourth
Andile: 2-3
Johan C: 0-3
Roger: 0-3
Johan M: 1-3
Final result : 3 – 16
