Edenvale recorded a first win against Chambers last night……… (7-12).
Stuart “100%” Vey again carrying the team by playing precision squash against Mike Lawrenson (twice the size of Stuart). Mr Vey displaying a variety of well placed shots and taking the game 3-0. Keep it up and Manie will not be able to keep you at No 4……….
Jacques tried his best against a very determined 23 year old Kent Raines, but the youngster chased down every ball (and anything that moved or looked like a ball) on court. Jacques lost 0-3. As an economist, Kent could not provide us with any positive news about the SA economic outlook for 2009…
Gerhard played against Mark Davies and went down 2-0 before you could say “cork screw”. Trying desperately to focus after spending the weekend in Cape Town and drinking too much Paardeberg Cabernet, I managed to make it 2 all but lost the last game 13-15. (3-2 loss) . Low and behold, with no scalps taken to date I will be scribe again next week………..
Duncan up next, playing a very laid back Orrin Davies and going down 2-0 before Duncan had a chance to clean his glasses. Changing his game plan after good advice from the guy that just lost the match before him (Duncan , I think Orrin is getting tired…..) , managed to pull it back 2 all. Orrin catching a wakeup (and effort) in the last to beat Duncan 3-2.
Edenvale made us feel extremely welcome and Mike produced a very special meal even after his 3-0 defeat to Stuart (claim he spend hours behind the stove…??).
