Once again a great contest against our great rivals. We always have a good match and social interaction with the Edenvale chaps and last night was no exception.
Playing first - Bob at 4 - went down (14/16 and 13/15) then fought back to take the next two 15/8 and 15/9. Just too many unforced errors in the fifth and lost 15/8. Scored more points than his opponent but not in the right games.
Up next - Paddy at 2 - went up two (15/11 and 17/15) only to relax too much and dropped the next two games (11/15 and 11/15). Paddy was serving at 14/13 in the fifth, fluffed his serve (14/14) and then lost the next two points to lose.
Third on was Des at 3 - All heart but having played golf earlier, found his legs, lungs and head were still on the golf course. Uncharacteristically lost 0/3!
Final match was Brian at 1 - As usual, although he hadn't touched a squash racket since the last league game in May, Brian fought every inch of the way, he would rather die on the court than give an inch! This was a mighty tussle also going to five sets with our man pulling it through in the fifth.What a player! Scores 15/9; 13/15; 9/15; 15/12 and 15/5.
